Saturday May 22nd, Games look to be cancelled

It looks like the games are cancelled due to field conditions. Too bad. After an exciting night of Rain ball, it would have been nice to get out and play in the sun.....

Great job Young Guns on pulling out 2 more wins in the Friday night league. That was some real battle to win the second game and the conditions were tough on both teams. Glad we ended up on top.

The Bushells were responsible for Lunch between games this week. They will take it for June 5th.

Those games are at

You win some and you lose some.....

Another fun weekend of baseball. The Young Guns were in top form on Friday and they destroyed both teams that challenged them. There was some great hitting by everyone and it seemed like a Home run derby for a while. Both games were called in the 4th innings because of the 10 run rule. Nice job Young Guns.

Saturday proved to be a little tougher challenge as the Young Guns faced two formidible teams. Whle we all wish we could have gone 4 - 0 this weekend, it was a great test for our Young Guns to see some good teams that played some tough defense. There was some outstanding play by a number of the Young Guns and it is difficult this week to point out just 1 player.

Next up, we go back to Ogden on Saturday after we play our Friday night games at 5:30 and 7:30 at Ellison Park #1.

Then Ogden 4th Street Park on Saturday.

The Big Home Run

What a Weekend. We finally were able to get some games in and the Young Guns ended up on top. With both Friday and Saturday games behind us, the Young Guns finished the weekend at 3 and 1. There were some great plays by each of the kids and I think you could truely say it was a team effort to record these wins. The Young Guns are tough to beat, when everyone works together.

I would be remiss if I did not give Carson Lomax the Props that he deserves. Carson hit a Monster Home Run that emptied the dugout and brought the crowds to their feet. I had to watch ESPN Sportscenter to see if they were going to talk about it. Sorry Cars, maybe next time.

Great Job guys. Lets see if we can go 4 and 0 this next week.

Games are on Friday at 5:30 and 7:30 and our Saturday games are as follows.

West Haven Country Park - #2, West Haven, UT 5/15/2010

3:30 pm Cache Beavers vs. Layton Young Guns
5:30 pm Layton Young Guns vs. Syracuse

Pictures from Saturdays Game

I nice hit by Drew. Keep your eye on the ball.

Coach Gold doing what he does best..
Putting the ball in play is the key to scoring.

Drew is always ready for that line drive to short. What would we do without our Mom's who come to watch us play...

These Young Guns can hit and run. Lots of action and some exciting plays made for a fun day at the park.

A long day in Kearns

Week 2 in the Super league and the YoungGuns found themselves in Kearns. After somewhat of a rainy week, the original field in South Jordan was rained out so the games were moved to Bruce Field in Kearns. This field was created by the people in the neighborhood to keep their kids busy and out of trouble. While the place seemed a little rough, it was easier to understand why once you knew the back story.

The Young Guns faced the Grantsville Cowboys in the early game. After watching the Cowboys decimate the team from Park City right before us, we weren't quite sure what this team was all about. However, the YoungGuns played hard and were in the game for the entire time. If it wasn't for a few errors and some calls that didn't go our way, we would have beat them pretty easily. However, when it was all said and done, the Cowboys beat the Young Guns 7 to 6. It would be nice to get a second shot at this team again.

In the late game, the Young Guns took on the Salt Lake Black Sox. This was a pretty good little hitting team. They were able to put the ball in play but the Young Guns worked hard and led most of the game. There were 2 stand out players in this game with a big shout out to Teague Lovell and his awesome catch and throw to first. It looked major league. Then we had an outstanding inning from that giant of a player Dillon Brown. The Black Sox couldnt believe that he could catch and had to give him three different shots and getting them out. Dill rose to the occasion and was a superstar with his catch and throw. However, when it was all said and done, we ended up back where we were last week with a tie. This is not the way we wanted to end it but with good defense at the end of the game from both sides. 10 to 10 was the final score.

Next up,

Barnes Memorial Park, Field 3 (portable mound), Kaysville, UT 5/1/2010

Thx, Rich

Saturday, April 17th,

Well, the opening day game and the Young Guns had to shake off some cobwebs.

After a somwhat nervous start, the Young Guns rallied with a double by Tanner and the Young Guns beat the North Davis Cyclones 9-6.

This was the first game of the year for the team, the first game of the season, and the first game of the day.

All in All, we can see some huge potential and we are excited for the season to come.

In the late game, we played the Madison Bobcats. They were a pretty good team and scored first.

After a small rally by the Young Guns, we battled back to take a 2-1 lead. With time getting close, the score was tied at 3-3.
The rules state that you go 1 overtime when the hour and 45 minutes has elapsed. Both teams held tough and the game ended 3-3. All in All, it was a great opening weekend and one that we are glad to have in the books.

We have practice this week at Layton High School on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30.

And then our game this week is in South Jordan Complex #2

3:30 pm Grantsville Cowboys vs. Layton Young Guns

2010 Season is finally here

After much anticipation, the 2010 season is upon us. We are all looking forward to our Friday evenings, cheering on the YoungGuns as they take on the Layton Comp league. And then we get to do it all over again on Saturday with Double headers. Should be a fun season.
Schedules are set to post tomorrow for the RMSB. I will update the site when I see that the games are posted.

Lastly, we have always done the Lunch thing between games on Saturday. Looking to see if we want this to continue. I am happy to put together a sign up list for this.
