Pictures from Saturdays Game

I nice hit by Drew. Keep your eye on the ball.

Coach Gold doing what he does best..
Putting the ball in play is the key to scoring.

Drew is always ready for that line drive to short. What would we do without our Mom's who come to watch us play...

These Young Guns can hit and run. Lots of action and some exciting plays made for a fun day at the park.

A long day in Kearns

Week 2 in the Super league and the YoungGuns found themselves in Kearns. After somewhat of a rainy week, the original field in South Jordan was rained out so the games were moved to Bruce Field in Kearns. This field was created by the people in the neighborhood to keep their kids busy and out of trouble. While the place seemed a little rough, it was easier to understand why once you knew the back story.

The Young Guns faced the Grantsville Cowboys in the early game. After watching the Cowboys decimate the team from Park City right before us, we weren't quite sure what this team was all about. However, the YoungGuns played hard and were in the game for the entire time. If it wasn't for a few errors and some calls that didn't go our way, we would have beat them pretty easily. However, when it was all said and done, the Cowboys beat the Young Guns 7 to 6. It would be nice to get a second shot at this team again.

In the late game, the Young Guns took on the Salt Lake Black Sox. This was a pretty good little hitting team. They were able to put the ball in play but the Young Guns worked hard and led most of the game. There were 2 stand out players in this game with a big shout out to Teague Lovell and his awesome catch and throw to first. It looked major league. Then we had an outstanding inning from that giant of a player Dillon Brown. The Black Sox couldnt believe that he could catch and had to give him three different shots and getting them out. Dill rose to the occasion and was a superstar with his catch and throw. However, when it was all said and done, we ended up back where we were last week with a tie. This is not the way we wanted to end it but with good defense at the end of the game from both sides. 10 to 10 was the final score.

Saturday, April 17th,

Well, the opening day game and the Young Guns had to shake off some cobwebs.

After a somwhat nervous start, the Young Guns rallied with a double by Tanner and the Young Guns beat the North Davis Cyclones 9-6.

This was the first game of the year for the team, the first game of the season, and the first game of the day.

All in All, we can see some huge potential and we are excited for the season to come.

In the late game, we played the Madison Bobcats. They were a pretty good team and scored first.

After a small rally by the Young Guns, we battled back to take a 2-1 lead. With time getting close, the score was tied at 3-3.
The rules state that you go 1 overtime when the hour and 45 minutes has elapsed. Both teams held tough and the game ended 3-3. All in All, it was a great opening weekend and one that we are glad to have in the books.

We have practice this week at Layton High School on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30.

2010 Season is finally here

After much anticipation, the 2010 season is upon us. We are all looking forward to our Friday evenings, cheering on the YoungGuns as they take on the Layton Comp league. And then we get to do it all over again on Saturday with Double headers. Should be a fun season.
Schedules are set to post tomorrow for the RMSB. I will update the site when I see that the games are posted.

Lastly, we have always done the Lunch thing between games on Saturday. Looking to see if we want this to continue. I am happy to put together a sign up list for this.
